There are search engines and there is Google. There are programs that help you search for the best of everything online and then there is Google’s program. It is no secret that when it comes to the world of online searching and web searching that nothing in the world is as popular as Google. It’s the only search engine that has become it’s own verb. “I am going to Google that.” It’s as much a part of the world Lexicon as anything else and there is not even a close second place.
So how did Google become the only search engine that people think to use these days? That question isn’t an easy question to answer. In Malcolm Gladwell’s bestseller “The Tipping Point” he examines the phenomenon of how something goes from small to huge in what seems like overnight. The truth is while there is data to show the spike, there is nothing that affects the tipping point better than an established word of mouth. At some point in Googles inception they became what some people use and those people use them and influence others. You just make it seem abnormal to use anything else.
If we are giving credit where credit is due then you have to give Google the respect it deserves for being one of the best search engine on the planet. The reason it is so good is that it’s technology for finding the best possible search and not simply the most popular is what makes it such a fun resource. What’s better is that it’s able to make it a reliable resource. You know that if there is something you are looking for that Google will have it appear first. Google looks like it will be the leader in it’s field for years to come. Everyone can agree on that.
